The Board discussed at some length the various issues relating to membership recruitment, our membership model, marketing of the club and its facilities and how all of these issues are having an increasing impact on all golf clubs. The Board agreed a separate note to members should be circulated, so that members are made aware of the issues affecting the future of the club.
The Board noted that a new golf ball with the club logo is now being used. This coincides with the changed value for balls purchased by the club and for those balls that are subsequently traded through the pro shop. Member who wish to trade the old Srixon golf ball are requested to do so as soon as practicable.
Some progress has been made in relation to the insurance claim relating to storm damage however we are still waiting for the determination of the business interruption element.
Water supply to the bubblers on the back nine has been restored.

The Warren and Gibson pennant teams both won their last round matches with the Gibson team progressing to the quarter final and winning that match against Bayview. The semi-final is scheduled for 11th October.
The Greens Committee reported on the excellent condition of the course and progress work. Top dressing at the top of the 12th hole is scheduled after the conclusion of club championships. A granite return is to be installed on the exit side of the stone bridge on the 12th hole to manage the wear and tear issue. The dip across the 7th fairway just short of the green is to be removed as it provides little or no assistance to drainage.
The Junior Committee reported that Harry Sanchez has been selected to play in a Junior Pro Am to be held at Stonecutters on 11th November. A school holiday 9 hole competition was held on 25th September.
The Membership Marketing and House Committee reported that fortnightly newspaper advertising was continuing. It also noted that Face Book was going well. The sub-committee reported on discussions relating to membership but was unable to recommend any changes at this time.
The Board noted the outstanding support we receive from our volunteers. This week they concentrated on picking up and removing larger sticks and branches around the course.
The Oktoberfest night attracted about 70 members, friends and visitors who all enjoyed a great night of food, drink, laughter and music. Jean-Christophe prepared a great menu featuring suckling pig and sauerkraut. The next golf and dine function is scheduled for Sunday 25th October. Planning is underway for the New Year’s Eve celebration with a rock and roll band booked for the occasion.
